Hangovers – an introduction
This site is dedicated to hangovers and includes as much information as I could find on how to prevent and cure that miserable affliction. The website if somewhat based upon the following theory – I believe that three main things constribute to hangovers:
- The alcohol itself – alcohol is a poison and if you drink it there is a certain amount of hangover that you simply cannot avoid. This is why there is no such thing as a miracle cure. You poison your body, you suffer the consequences. It’s lucky, therefore that the other two elements are more manageable.
- Dehydration. For sure alchol makes you dehydrated and this can make your hangover a lot worse. The old trick of drinking water before bed is perfectly true, it can help significantly, but there is something even better. Oral rehydration salts (ORS) give you even more of the salts and minerals that your body needs and can turbo charge the rehydration. It’s an industry secret that really works, read more about it here.
- Finally, a more recent discovery of mine, is that sugar can also seriously impact your hangover. I expand more on this here but, put simply, avoiding sugary drinks can also really help to reduce your hangover.
I think that these three elements contribute roughly equually to hangovers. Therefore, since there’s nothing you can really do about the first point you can never get rid of a hangover, but you can reduce it to about 33% of what it might have been otherwise. This website provides links to research (both of a more official and less official nature) which has been done on the subject in the hope that it might help you to reduce your hangovers. I hope you enjoy reading it.
